Trader Joe: Community V2.1
Trader Joe deeply embeds the core value of community building into its operational ethos. Community building efforts have so far prioritized creating a space where community feedback, participation and development are not just welcomed, but actively sought. This approach has cultivated a dedicated core group of community members, that advocate and champion for the Trader Joe community and platform.
This time last year, Trader Joe announced its Community Circle program via a ‘V2 community experience’ where the community ecosystem was segmented and categorised with a deep and gamified role hierarchy system that aimed to add enrichment and a new way to interact and grow in DeFi.
Today, Trader Joe looks to evolve this program, adapting a number of the core community segments by refining, expanding or removing them entirely. These changes are foundational and may have been active for some time but they all form the basis of a larger planned ‘V3’ program rollout later this year.
Community Clubs
Over 2023 Trader Joe has set up key Community Clubs that are tasked with mobilizing on key aspects of the Trader Joe ecosystem. Community Clubs serve as a mechanism to encourage further brand advocacy, by providing focused experiences with dedicated purpose. Community Clubs have been instrumental for Trader Joe and this year, and we’ll be expanding and deepening the clubs and the powers they hold.

The Council
Purpose: Governance
Tasks with stewardship of the Trader Joe Community interests in relation to the Arbitrum DAO, The Council confer on anything related to Trader Joe and assist in casting votes, on behalf of the delegation that is established. There have been 8 trusted individuals that have stepped forward in the Trader Joe Community to join The Council. A special shoutout to Joseph (Immutable Lawyer) who has since formed quite the individual voice within the Arbitrum DAO.
Makers Club
Purpose: Market Making
The Makers Club offers a gated channel in the Trader Joe Discord and is an exclusive channel to those who have minted a Makers Medal, a dynamic NFT that can be claimed and upgraded over time based on Market Making performance. It is linked to the Trader Joe Liquidity Book Rewards Program. As a Maker, if you unlock rewards in an Epoch, you can claim the medal and access the club.
Debank Crew
Purpose: Growth via Debank
The Debank Crew is a closed group of Five Debank focused Ambassadors. These chosen few act as the core voice for Trader Joe on the Debank Social Stream feature, helping to amplify the messages from Trader Joe. Between them they host giveaways, run the Trader Joe Family Debank group and create content to inform readers.

Cozy Lodgers
Purpose: Alpha Channel
The ultimate home for travellers who want some peaceful respite from the DeFI bustle. The Cozy Lodge is a gated channel in the Trader Joe Discord, accessible by members who unlock a variety top roles within the Trader Joe Guild Community. Once you enter the Cozy Lodge, you will be amongst the trusted few. It is a warm place that will always beckon you back.
Community Club Evolution
As we enter further into 2024, Trader Joe will be expanding and further empowering the existing clubs with new initiatives, tools and recipes for success.
Guild Community: Points (We call em Joints)
Guild has been an instrumental tool for Trader Joe and his community building efforts. Guild enables customisation of community hierarchy, expression to experiment with new community initiatives and it also offers an unrivaled amount of enrichment to the DeFi community experience. Guild have recently launched the capabilities for communities to setup their own points system, enabling community members to accrue points as rewards by unlocking various roles. All points accrued go towards a Leaderboard feature, ranking you against your fellow community members.
Introducing Joints
Trader Joe has now adopted the points system into all roles present and by progressing in the role system, you can now accrue points which are referred to as ‘Joints’ (Joe-Points). There are a total of >3000 points available across a range of ecosystem verticials. All points accrued now may be beneficial in a larger ‘V3’ style overhaul of a community / points program.
Share $1000 in JOE
In addition, to support the roll out of the ‘Joints’ Leaderboard, the top 10 users snapshot at the end of February will each receive $100 in JOE token rewards.
Trader Joe's Community Heroes Program
The Community Heroes Program is a member recognition initiative. The program celebrates members who go above and beyond to contribute positively to the community experience. The Community Heroes program will now be updated with new categories of recognition under a new reward program.
Categories of Recognition:
Within the Community Heroes Program, there are now three distinct categories (down from four), each symbolizing a unique and diverse contribution to the Trader Joe ecosystem:
The Joker: This category celebrates individuals who bring joy, humor, and fun to the community. The Joker highlights the value of those who enhance the communal spirit through their light-hearted engagements.
The Threader: This accolade is reserved for members who help to raise awareness about Trader Joe. The Threader has excelled in amplification, shared valuable insights and/or engaged a broader audience in the name of Trader Joe.
The Maker: Dedicated to the product advocates among us, The Maker honors those who sharing their success stories, feedback, and innovative uses. Makers are instrumental in championing Trader Joe products.
Rewards
Recipients of each category will be distinguished within our community through a unique Discord role, making them easily identifiable as a beacon of contribution and spirit. Additionally, they will be awarded $50 in tokens as a token of our appreciation for their dedication and impact.
To ensure broad recognition and inclusivity, no individual will be honored consecutively in the same category. This approach allows us to celebrate a diverse range of contributions and ensure that new heroes are recognized in each cycle.
All Community Hero roles will be crowned in Trader Joe Community Calls.
