From Old Peon to New
We put extensive thought into the design of the transition process to ensure it is both engaging and rewarding for you to upgrade your peons.
We’ve implemented interesting mechanisms for both the burning and revealing of your peons. Let’s dive into how this process will work.
The New Collection
The newly launched collection is comprised of 5,000 Peons which are divided into three distinct classes:
Poor
Middling
Rich
Breaking away from traditional rarity dynamics, this collection ensures that all classes and the traits within each class share equal rarity.
With the quality of art in this collection, we hope this new system will help to minimize the “floor NFT” meta suffered by most projects. It has been seen that when projects assign arbitrary rarities, typically a large percentage of a collection becomes effectively fungible, as buyers attribute no extra value to a medium ranked NFT versus a low ranked NFT.
Rather than focus on rarity, we want to focus on aesthetic appeal. Every trait has the potential to ascend to the top in perceived value based on an individual’s and community’s preference.
Every class has distinct traits that embodies it’s own energy to the fullest. Not to mention, each class has a story within the peon world that will allow every crypto enthusiast to relate to a class in some way. This added depth and diversity within this digital ensemble should create a collection full of peons which can provide true personal value.
Phase I: Burn-to-claim a Peon Masterpiece
The first phase of the upgrade process begins with Peon NFT owners burning their existing Peons to claim a Masterpiece Token. There will be 3 different types:
Masterpiece token
Golden Masterpiece token
Diamond Masterpiece token
A Masterpiece token has the potential to become either a 1/1 or a random Peon from one of the three classes.
A Golden Masterpiece token will automatically become a rich Peon but can also reveal a 1/1.
A Diamond Masterpiece token will automatically become a new legendary 1/1 Peon.
Diamond tokens are reserved for the current 1/1’s in the first collection. Golden tokens are reserved for peons in the top 500 rarities (as seen on Joepegs) and peons with the rainbow mouth or nude boy traits. Regular Masterpiece tokens will be given to all other peons upon burn.
For the 1st week after launch, the burning and claiming of a token comes at a discounted cost of 0.75 AVAX per Peon or a discounted price of 2.5 AVAX per batch of 5 Peons.
At the start of the 2nd week, the burning and claiming of a token will be moved to the standard price at a cost of 1.5 AVAX per Peon or a discounted price of 5 AVAX per batch of 5 Peons.
In the 3rd week after launch, royalties on Peon V1 will be raised to 25% to encourage participation in the upgrade.
In the second phase, you will be able to reveal these tokens for your new Peon.
This burn period will last 6 months. At that time, any unminted peons will be minted to the treasury.
Phase II: The Reveal Process
Now for the real fun — the reveal.
After having burned your Peons and claimed your Masterpieces tokens, you will be able to reveal your upgraded Peons right away! You might want to be fast with your reveals. Here’s why…
Once an owner has a Masterpiece token, they can reveal it from the Rich Peon Poor Peon website. After laying eyes on their new Peon, the owner then has five minutes to decide whether to keep the revealed Peon or reroll for a new one using Pickaxes.
This is an optional mechanic. You can reveal your Masterpiece token without a pickaxe ⇒ The pickaxe is only used if you want another chance at a random peon.
The pickaxes add an interesting dynamic to the reveal. It comes in five varieties, with each type of pickaxe allowing a different number of rerolls. The rarer the pickaxe, the more rerolls it offers, with the diamond pickaxe providing an instant 1/1.
Iron ⇒ 1 possible reroll per 2 Iron pickaxes
Bronze ⇒ 5 possible rerolls
Silver ⇒ 10 possible rerolls
Gold ⇒ 20 possible rerolls
Diamond ⇒ reveals a Peon 1/1
However, every choice comes with a trade-off. Every reroll burns a pickaxe (or 2 in case of the Iron pickaxe), and once a new attempt is launched, there's no way back to the previous Peon.
Importantly, the collection will also see an increase in the number of legendary 1/1 peons from 7 up to 30.
With every reroll, you’ll be giving yourself another chance at getting the peon of your dreams… including these 1/1’s. Early revealers will have the best shot at getting these.

Do I have to use a Pickaxe in order to reveal my Peon ?
No. Pickaxes is an option only to be used for those willing to re-roll their reveal.
What is the limit usage of Pickaxes during the reveal ?
There are no limitation. You can use as many Iron Pickaxes as you want e.g. If you have 10 pickaxes you can reroll your revealed Peon up to 5 times.
What happens if I decide to reroll my Golden Masterpiece token ?
You will reveal either a rich or a 1/1 upgraded Peon in your reroll.
Will there be any rarities in the next Rich Peon Poor Peon ?
No. The only distinction between all Peon is the social class i.e Rich, Middling, Poor.
How many 1/1 Peons will there in the collection ?
There will be 10 within each class, meaning 30 in total, which is increasing the size of the 1/1s by 23 in comparison to current Rich Peon Poor Peon collection.
How long will Phase I & II last?
It will last 6 months. Then, all unburned Peons NFTs will be minted to the treasury.
