Embodying the behaviors and emotions of the people it observes, this character finds the flawed aspects within society and makes humor of it. Created by the renowned Turkish artist Cem Guventurk, the brilliance of this collection is that it not only finds forms to represent each of us as individuals, it also finds a way to represent us all as a whole.

The Person Collection
You’ve felt this sensation before. We all have. You may not even have been able to put it into words at the time, but it’s something everyone has thought about. It’s called sonder. That’s the emotion… and it’s a powerful one. Existential. Profound even. It’s described as the realization that every person around us is living a life as vivid and complex as our own — and it’s a hard pill to swallow.
To ourselves, we are the main character. Everyone knows us.
In reality though, almost nobody really knows us. This disconnect leaves our headspace in a weird predicament. It’s almost as if we were watching the world through a one-way mirror. We observe others from afar, but most won’t ever see us in return. That is unless you consider the countless others who have watched you through their own one-way mirror.
This is especially prevalent in the technology-driven world of today. We can now observe anyone in the entire world without ever being seen. We’ve become simultaneously the most connected we’ve ever been while also the most disconnected from each other.
So this leads us to a question — if you look at a person, what do you see?
How will you label them?
Based off of their accomplishments? Their goals? Their behaviors? Or maybe off of their emotions? Their happiness? Their flaws? Their insecurities? Their pain?
This will inevitably leave you with even more questions…
What are they hiding? What can’t you see? What motivates them? Did they choose the life they have? Did society choose it for them?
These questions might even lead you to turn inwards. What if you took a look at yourselves? What would you see then…
It’s truly a never-ending flow of observations that all stem from this one simple question.
If you had to sum it all up as one concept, you’d probably call it the human condition.
That’s a huge theme to digest.
Yet despite the size of the idea, Turkish artist Cem Guventurk decided this thought experiment would be the key theme underpinning his newest NFT collection.
This wasn’t his first time working with this theme either. All the way back to his work as a cartoonist in the Turkish magazines Kafa and Uykusuz, his caricatures have always focused on utilizing his unique drawing style to bring his observations of life to art. This was abundantly apparent in his previous NFT collection “Feelings”, a 1/1 project that explores the ways that our emotions define us. With that project (and a strong fanbase for his art) now under his belt, Cem decided to embark on his most ambitious project yet. A PFP collection aptly named — “The Person”.
The Person is an ambiguous, flexible character. No age. No gender. No race.
This was all intentional. The character can take on the characteristics of anyone. It observes the behaviors of people and embodies them in a mischievous, sarcastic way. A being that examines and analyzes the flawed aspects within society and makes humor of it. Despite the colorful energy in each form of the character, an aura of darkness lurks underneath. By turning each human behavior into a caricature, you are left to see it in its truest form. The good and the bad are both on full display.
The artistic style of this collection is a perfect progression from all of Cem’s previous work. The genius of creating such a relatable and fun character that can still explore such deep topics is nothing short of brilliance. Cem has a distinct ability to find the aspects of human behavior that most would rather not acknowledge and chooses to explore these insights through his artistic stroke. People tend to be uncomfortable confronting the reality of their life’s flaws. Cem takes the opposite stance — our flaws are what make us who we are. There is no reason to fear them.
This is why the work of Cem is so fascinating. He’s able to draw people in so quickly even if they have no context for his work. That’s part of the reason he has garnered such a strong following, especially in his home country of Turkey. Currently sitting at 257K followers on Instagram and 72K followers on Twitter, he’s proven himself as one of the true blue-chips artist in the Avalanche ecosystem. The character of “The Person” has also had a reputation within his own community for many years, and after years of working with the concept, now felt like the perfect time to bring this iconic character to a more global community.
So what will this collection look like?
The long-nosed, big-eared character of The Person will come to life in three distinct, yet equally exciting ways. The 4000 NFT collection will feature 70 hand-drawn 3D (20 legendary, 50 epic), 365 rare 2D hand-drawn, and 3555 generated pieces. Additionally there will be 5 “open-call” works that were submitted by artists in the community and 5 Special Commons to add just a little more spice to the mint.
This is undoubtable one of the most visually impressive PFP projects to ever be launched on any chain. The artwork’s quality truly speaks for itself.
The excitement doesn’t end at the art either. The team behind the project has put together an impressive roadmap to pave a bright future for The Person’s community. One of the core missions of this project is to promote building an environment that allows artists to flourish and get the value that they deserve for their work. To help make strides towards this, The Person will be launching a creative agency to provide workshops, events, and consultancy to artists of all kinds. If you are an artist, this community will support you in any way possible. On the theme of giving back, the project also plans to host educational activities related to art, DeFi, marketing, developing, and more. Pairing community growth with personal growth makes everyone stronger together.
For this community, the value focus will be in social benefits above all else. For the “The Person” family, the key benefit that the team hopes to harness is “equal opportunity in education”. So in addition to their plans for the community, they also plan to cover the annual education expenses of a female student studying at Darüşşafaka with a part of their collection income.
A merch store is also in the future to bring your love for this collection to the physical world. Social events will also be planned to fully bring this community together.

In a world where the same styles and ideas are rehashed over and over again in PFP projects, The Person is a breath of fresh air. It’s truly such a visually appealing collection that you could easily spend hours exploring all the different personas of The Person. Yet the true uniqueness of this project lies in the meaning attached to each and every piece.
The character of The Person is a blank canvas, an excitingly-neutral being, just like you were once in your life. We start with endless possibilities of who we may become, and we slowly evolve as we observe others and take on the behaviors that we learn. Some good and some bad. Yet at the end of the day, the reality is — we are who we are. We must learn to accept that.
This project is special because not only does the The Person collection find forms to represent each of us as individuals, it also finds a way to represent us all as a whole.
